A Long Way Down

Opens Friday, Jul 11, 2014 Synopsis: Four suicidal strangers find support in the last place they ever expected to in this emotionally charged comedy-drama based on the novel by Nick Hornby. It's New Year's Eve in London, and disgraced television personality Martin (Pierce Brosnan) is about to take a flying leap off of Topper's Tower when he's interrupted by Maureen (Toni Collette), a lonely single mother who's reached the end of her rope. Meanwhile, as the pair realize their suicide plans have overlapped, onto the rooftop dashes Jess (Imogen Poots), a rebellious teen with nothing left to live for. Just when it seems this despairing group can't possibly get any bigger, rocker-turned-pizza delivery driver J.J. (Aaron Paul) shows up with a fresh pie and a death wish. Rather than taking the plunge together, the unlikely foursome decide to put their plans off until Valentine's Day -- sticking together and supporting one another in the interim. Later, as their friendship deepens, their unusual pact stirs a media firestorm. Sam Neill and Rosamund Pike co-star. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi Cast: Pierce Brosnan, Toni Collette, Imogen Poots, Aaron Paul, Rosamund Pike, Sam Neill Movie Details Buy Tickets Movie Review

Jurassic Park

Now Playing Synopsis: Steven Spielberg's phenomenally successful sci-fi adventure thriller is graced by state-of-the-art special effects from the team of Stan Winston, Phil Tippett and Michael Lantieri from George Lucas's Industrial Light & Magic. The film follows two dinosaur experts -- Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill) and Dr. Ellie Sattler Laura Dern) -- as they are invited by eccentric millionaire John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) to preview his new amusement park on an island off Costa Rica. By cloning DNA harvested from pre-historic insects, Hammond has been able to create living dinosaurs for his new Jurassic Park, an immense animal preserve housing real brachiosaurs, dilophosaurs, triceratops, velociraptors, and a Tyrannosaur Rex. Accompanied by cynical scientist Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum), who is obsessed with chaos theory, and Hammond's two grandchildren (Ariana Richards and Joseph Mazzello), they are sent on a tour through Hammond's new resort in computer controlled touring cars. But as a tropical storm hits the island, knocking out the power supply, and an unscrupulous employee (Wayne Knight) sabotages the system so that he can smuggle dinosaur embryos out of the park, the dinosaurs start to rage out of control. Grant then has to bring Hammond's grandchildren back to safety as the group is pursued by the gigantic man-eating beasts. ~ Paul Brenner, Rovi Cast: Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Richard Attenborough, Bob Peck Movie Details Play Trailer Buy Tickets Movie Review

The Hunter

Now Playing Synopsis: A mercenary employed by a highly secretive biotech-research company sets out into the wilds of Tasmania in search of the elusive Tasmanian tiger -- an animal assumed to be extinct by scientists, yet rumored to have been spotted in the area in recent years. Adapted from the novel by author Julia Leigh, The Hunter follows Martin (Willem Dafoe) as he ventures out on his mission and arrives at the home of Lucy Armstrong (Frances O'Connor), who has been heavily depressed since her husband vanished into the surrounding wilderness months ago, and who now lives alone with her young daughter Sass (Morgana Davies) and taciturn son Bike (Finn Woodlock). Shortly thereafter, Martin is accompanied to the edge of the wilds by Jack Mindy (Sam Neill), an old friend of Lucy's who has kept watch over her family and balks at the newcomer's decision to navigate the rough terrain unaccompanied. In the wake of a clash with hostile local loggers, Martin gradually begins to learn more about Lucy's family and develops a tenuous friendship with her two young children. But later, just as Martin begins to feel as if his goal is finally within reach, an unexpected development sends his mission into a tailspin and causes him to question the motivations behind capturing such a strange and majestic creature. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi Cast: Willem Dafoe, Frances O'Connor, Sam Neill, Morgana Davies, Finn Woodlock Movie Details Play Trailer Buy Tickets Movie Review
