Braves rule River tourney: Class 3A runner-up from 2009 finishes with 3-0 record

The Mt. Edgecumbe girls basketball team has just one starter returning from a squad that finished second at the Class 3A state tournament last season, but the Braves have reloaded quickly.

Eagles take 5th place at state

...The scores were 25-15, 25-14 and 25-15. The player of the game for the Eagles was Chermaine Yarnes. Kelsie Leaf made the all-tournament team for the Eagles, while Yarnes was named the best defensive player at the tournament.

Nikiski girls finish 3-0 to take crown

By winning the Kenai River Challenge tournament at Kenai Central on Saturday, the Nikiski girls showed they are serious about getting back to the Class 3A state basketball tournament after a one-year absence.
