Wishful thinking doesn't change facts

...give their own industry a greater portion of the salmon that enter Cook Inlet. In Friday's Clarion, a letter from Neil Robinson points out that Alaska's Congressional delegation is acting unrealistically in attempting to get oil sales within...
State lawmakers should provide their own insurance

If Rep. Shelley Hughes, the Republican State House member from Palmer, really believes what she is saying that "a caring person wants to see someone get out of the bracket" of receiving Medicaid, and wasn't just doing a partisan punkout, then what is she doing still accepting government health care? The people of Alaska should be paying her well enough where she doesn't need a subsidy, and of anybody in this state, she should be able to afford paying for her policy on her own.
Alaska's delegation is part of Washington, D.C. problems

Well, there they were, our three knuckleheads from Washington, D.C., standing there trying to convince us what Alaskans they are.

Oil tax isn't only law that should be given a chance

How ironic that Governor Parnell is now begging us Alaskans to give his tax give-away "a chance," when not long ago the people for Obamacare were asking him do just that with the healthcare law. Did he give it a chance? No, of course not: he did nothing but rail against it, and is still trying trip it up with partisan tricks in any way he can - before giving it "any" kind of a chance. So why shouldn't we just be partisan and try to crush his signature achievement without even a glance to see what good it could do ... if any? They say that your karma comes back to you.
Loss of 60th vote a good thing

...this country has ever seen so many high paid blubberers under one roof. All excuses are now gone. It doesn't matter what party they're in, it's time they go back to work and do something good for the people. Neil Robinson Kenai
What?s wrong with liberal?

...too liberal? Well, what?s wrong with liberal once in awhile? Don?t most people like it when they?re treated liberally? Do the oil companies really deserve to make more profit off our backs? Neil Robinson Kenai
Something?s wrong with the fish

...the gill net barely slowed them down. I?m no expert, people, but there is something definitely wrong out there. If the commercial fishermen aren?t catching them, we are in big trouble. Neil Robinson Kenai
Would senator give up her health care?

I'm in complete agreement with Lisa Murkowski on her evaluation of health care. I think that she should even become the poster woman of how to say "no" to government. In order for us to take her seriously, though, she will have to give up her own government-paid-for health care and show us how to do it. She said that she only gets what is offered to "all" government employees ... that can be rectified by not offering it to them any more. Does anybody know how much "that" is costing us?
Poet's Corner: A Pep In Our Step

America has a pep in our step There is no junk in our trunk Feelin' spry, flyin' high We got the guy, like swattin' a fly We're gettin' back to where we belong It's been so long since we've found our song. There's a new pep in our step And we're steppin' out - yep!
