KPC Showcase event to feature Alaskan author

The public is invited to the first installment of the KPC Showcase Art and Lecture series at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19 in room 109 (Ward Building) at the Kenai River Campus. This free event will feature former Alaska Writer Laureate Nancy Lord who will present "Writing and the Alaska Environment." Lord will share excerpts from her 5 non-fiction books and talk about her reasons for writing them and some of the research that went into her work.

Community Resource Mapping Project under way

Assistant Professor of Counseling Christina Stuive and students from her guidance class have partnered with the Community Action Coalition, People Promoting Wellness (formerly The MAPP Group of the Kenai Peninsula), United Way and KRC's Career and Community Engagement Center to develop a database of community resources available in the central Peninsula area.

Fall priority registration now open at KPC

Students interested in staying on track to complete their degree or certificate programs have an opportunity to register for fall beginning this week. The University of Alaska is emphasizing to students the importance of taking 15 credits per semester in order to complete their associate degrees within two years and bachelor degrees within four years. Along these same lines, it is vital that students are able to secure seats in required classes as they approach graduation.
