The Nikiski Middle/High School Track and Field athletes, coaches, and parents wish to extend a huge "Thank You" to all those involved in helping to clear snow from the Nikiski track this year.
I applaud Greg Brush at EZ Limit Guide Service, for the stand he has taking on releasing client caught king salmon. Greg is certainly one of our premier guides. If he can go to catch-and-release only, then perhaps others will follow his lead. When my summer guests arrive this year, I will send them to Greg if they decide to go out on the river. That is if he has any openings. Way to go Greg.
It is my opinion that Senator Begich voted correctly when he voted against increased background checks for firearms. More regulations would have done nothing to stop the recent "nut jobs" and their killing sprees.
...oil field. I rode that pipeline last weekend and the pipes are now much more noticeable. Now if we could set the refuge people to remove or open the dangerous gate at the top of the hill, things would be even better. Joseph Ross Nikiski
...ice with Judge Card, and it was a miracle for them that he didn?t declare a mistrial. I will watch with much interest to see what happens with the appeal of the manslaughter conviction that is being appealed. Joseph Ross Nikiski
...been the people I have had the pleasure of working with. Even though there is a time crunch and difficult weather to deal with, the people involved have all been just great. Thank you one and all. Joseph Ross; Alaska Roadrunner, Nikiski
...Mike did as a Road Service Area Board member, he should still be thanked for his years of service. So from a private citizen of the borough, Thanks Mike for volunteering your time to work for the people of the borough. Joseph Ross Nikiski

Track and Field season is half over and the Nikiski athletes are still unable to use the multi-million dollar facility there. Use it, heck we can't even see it. I know it was a bad year for snow, but I begged the KPB Maintenance Department to come up with a solution last year. Nope. Twelve months later and still the same problem. The SoHi and Skyview tracks are cleared of snow by the city of Soldotna. The Kenai track gets cleared by the city of Kenai. The Nikiski track evidently is supposed to be cleared by Mother Nature.
