How far should 'improvement of health' go?

Thanks be to Central Peninsula Hospital and CEO Rick Davis for establishing a no-fly zone to which area residents may flee for refuge and in order to escape the endless bombardment of tobacco fumes devastating the health of local citizens.

Sport fishery reaping what it sowed

What rancher in his right mind continually, year after year, kills off and harasses the biggest and best of his herd and expects anything but ruination?

Hospital has lost sight of original purpose

Area residents might do well to remember that the current hospital-versus-docs fiasco is being brought to us by the same folks who concocted the need to sell the hospital - CPGH Inc. What has happened that after years and years of working hand-in-glove with area physicians, our hospital's management has now put our docs in a position where they feel the need for their own facility?

Limits on nonresidents would create second-class fishing

Palmer's column, "Much Uproar Over Salmon" (Clarion, Dec. 9) is an embarrassment. Palmer asserts that nonresidents should "have limits for how many salmon they can take Outside." Sure, our summer visitors can legally catch as many as regulations allow, but they can only take some of them home. Welcome to second-class fishing.

Many good people working hard in nursing homes

The column refers, somewhat ominously, to "what goes on in nursing homes," claiming to have witnessed such goings-on first hand.

Clarion editorial off the mark

...that today's teens need to be taught in high school -- at public expense -- that having a baby involves responsibilities? That a baby needs care and attention? Do today's kids learn nothing at home? Unbelievable! John Nelson Soldotna
