The Kachemak Bay Writers? Conference, organized by the University of Alaska Kachemak Bay Campus, is held June 8 to 12 and brings 19 guest writers, poets, agents and editors to town. The following are profiles of three of the visiting faculty.
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) -- Snow falls. Some folks salivate over weekend powder days. Others calculate water content, potato acreage and wheat yields. Larry Orme and Kent Marlor dwell on deer and elk.
LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) -- Saddle up to your favorite spring chinook hole and stake a claim. That might be the best way to fish for salmon in the high water of spring runoff.
Martin and six other landowners in the Clearwater Region of north central Idaho have enrolled land in the Idaho Department of Fish and Game Access Yes! program. In exchange for allowing hunters on his place, Martin receives a small payment from the department.
Deer-hunting season is open, but that doesn't mean you should give up hiking, mountain biking and picnicking during one of the best times of the year. Rick Thomas won't. An avid hiker, he doesn't let hunting season stop him from going out, but he does take some precautions.
