Lots of summer fun at the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge

The kids have a few days left of school, giant mosquitoes are already being sighted, and RVs will soon flood the Kenai Peninsula. Summer is on its way. There are so many inexpensive ways to explore nature right outside your doorstep. Despite the poor economy and government budget cuts, the Kenai Refuge will still be offering many engaging programs for kids and families, visitors and locals alike. While hiking recently, I was totally captivated by beautiful red and gold leaves all around me. Fall is such a wonderful season to be outdoors. Whether you go berry picking or fishing, each day is a feast for the eyes as the landscape changes dramatically.
