Circle of friends help musician find his path

In singer-songwriter Matt Wall's case, it isn't that it takes a village to raise a child, it's that it takes a community to create a singer.

Carrie (2013)

Now Playing Synopsis: Stephen King's classic novel about a tortured, telekinetic teen gets new life in this adaptation from Boys Don't Cry director Kimberly Peirce. A misfit from the moment she first stepped out into the world, high-school senior Carrie White (Chloë Grace Moretz) has been taunted and teased by her peers as far back as she can remember. Her mother Margaret (Julianne Moore) is a Christian zealot prone to locking her in a small broom closet and making her pray for hours on end. All Carrie wants is to fit in, but after the shock of experiencing her first period in the gym shower results in a devastating bout of bullying initiated by cruel Chris Hargensen (Portia Doubleday) and her circle of friends, the young outcast realizes that she has the ability to move objects with the power of her mind alone. Meanwhile, as gym teacher Miss Desjardin (Judy Greer) bans Chris from the prom following a defiant outburst by the entitled teen, Chris' best friend Sue Snell (Gabriella Wilde) begins having second thoughts about the way that Carrie has been treated. In an attempt to atone for her past misdeeds, Sue convinces her lacrosse-star boyfriend Tommy Ross (Ansel Elgort) to ask Carrie to the prom -- an invitation that she eventually accepts. But Chris isn't finished with Carrie just yet, and later, when a cruel prank at the prom goes horribly awry, Carrie puts her newfound telekinetic powers to terrifying use. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi Cast: Chloë Grace Moretz, Julianne Moore, Gabriella Wilde, Portia Doubleday, Ansel Elgort Movie Details Play Trailer Buy Tickets Movie Review

Now Playing Synopsis: An emotionally numb teen from the suburbs of Belgrade seeks escape through sex, drugs, and exhibitionism in this provocative look at contemporary Serbian youth. Jasna (Isidora Simijonovic) is a 16-year-old girl who lives her entire life through the lens of her smartphone camera. Nothing is off limits as the rebellious teen and her friends capture every act of debauchery for posterity, and in time the videos seem to take precedence over reality itself -- if it isn't worth recording, it isn't worth experiencing. There's precious little compassion shared in Jasna's circle of friends, so when the naïve young girl falls for abusive drug dealer Djole (Vukasin Jasni), she fails to sense the danger that lies ahead. Upon connecting with an ailing orphan, however, Jasna finds her thoughts continually drifting to her father, who is dying of cancer. Later, upon confiding her growing inner turmoil to her hard-hearted boyfriend, Jasna is subjected to a cruel brand of suffering that she wouldn't wish on her worst enemies. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi Cast: Isidora Simijonovic, Vukasin Jasni, Sanja Mikitisin, Jovo Maksic, Monja Savic, Katarina Pesic Movie Details Buy Tickets Movie Review
