Let us handle the debt ceiling

The problem with the way Congress handled the debt ceiling issue was epic and awful. Now they want to as a "Joint Select Committee" of 12 members equally divided by house and Senate and by party to find $1.5 Trillion in reductions by Thanksgiving. OK ? one problem ? they are politicians ? when was the last time they paid a real bill?
