Earlier this month, the Kenai Peninsula Orchestra performed their annual fall family concert. This year, we partnered with Carnegie Hall's Link Up program, which provides an opportunity for students to perform on stage with an orchestra.

Tustumena News On Tuesday, Sept. 11, we sent home a paper copy of a survey we would like 100% of you to fill out and return. The results of the survey are intended to reflect your wishes in regard to the issues surrounding grade spans at the elementary, middle, and high school levels in Soldotna and the surrounding areas. There will also be a community meeting here at Tustumena on Sept. 18th at 6 p.m. about this topic.

JUNEAU - We typically think of encouraging kids to draw as a way to stimulate their inner artists. Kathy Hocker also sees it as a great way to stimulate their inner scientists. Younger students at Gastineau Community School recently learned through working with Hocker, a scientific illustrator, that there is a rich area of overlap between art and science, two disciplines that are often viewed as unrelated. One point where they converge is in the importance of careful observation.
